Adding audio to a post

You can add an interactive audio player right in your post! Here’s how…

If you have an Archive.org URL, change “details” to “embed” and add ?playlist=1 to the end, and then drop it into this HTML snippet where it says URL-GOES-HERE:

<iframe src="URL-GOES-HERE"
  title="TITLE-GOES-HERE"
  width="400"
  frameBorder="0"
  allowFullScreen></iframe>

…e.g. this url:

https://archive.org/embed/jrad2016-03-24.jrad2016-03-24?playlist=1

…turns into:

To show a small single-track player, find the .mp3 URL for the track, and then put it on a line all by itself.

To find the bare MP3 URL, first look for the Download section, and tap/click on Show All:

This should open a page with an MP3 link for each track. Copy the whole URL (starts with https and ends with .mp3!) for the track you want, something like this:

https://archive.org/download/jrad2016-03-24.jrad2016-03-24/08%20In%20Memory%20of%20Elizabeth%20Reed.mp3

…paste the URL into the text editor here and it will turn into an Audio Player for that track:

Aha, here’s how to embed a whole show that plays all the way through!

Copy this chunk of code and add it to your post:

<iframe src="URL-GOES-HERE"
  title="TITLE-GOES-HERE"
  width="400"
  frameBorder="0"
  allowFullScreen></iframe>

If you’ve got this Archive URL: https://archive.org/details/bustle_in_your_hedgerow2013-08-31.cleantone

  • change the /details/ to be /embed/
  • and add this at the end: ?playlist=1

…so then the URL looks like this:

https://archive.org/embed/bustle_in_your_hedgerow2013-08-31.cleantone?playlist=1

Now drop that URL into where it says URL-GOES-HERE in the HTML code above, and add a short description where it says TITLE-GOES-HERE (don’t use any quote marks "" )

You’ll get something like this

<iframe src="https://archive.org/embed/bustle_in_your_hedgerow2013-08-31.cleantone?playlist=1"
  title="Bustle in Your Hedgerow 8/31/13"
  width="400"
  frameBorder="0"
  allowFullScreen></iframe>

Pop that into a post and the whole recording will be able to be streamed from your post!
